Town Birds

Today I met friends D, J, and J's mom S at Billy's on Burnet in Austin for burgers (veggie for some) and beers (iced tea and water for some); J's extra-N-bearing G showed up later on as well. A pair of sparrows has a nest on the eastern wall of Billy's under the eaves. It's a rather spectacular nest, made of feathers and straw and who knows what else; but interestingly, the little babies are not in the nest, but on the ledge beside the nest. We watched the parents alternately feeding the little ones and preening on nearby railings. The snaps of the babes came out fuzzy, I am sorry to say, but what the hell, let's include one anyway.
