Sometimes at dusk one of the Woodies comes to the staging tree, and after several forays between it and the Woodie tree, he then pops into the nesting hole and does not reemergee. As far as we can tell, he spends the night in there. Is it this year's dad? One of the babies? I am sure that if I can just get a shot of the top of his head—of his red spot, that is—I will be able to see if he's one of the previously photographed adults; the spots differ slightly from bird to bird.
