Hey there:) We live in Vernon B.C Canada, and just found one of these exact moths on our counter:) I've never seen them before, and when I googled it, your pics were the only ones to match it :) Loved looking at all your pictures on your blog!

Hi Jules! Your message made me so happy! Thank you for letting me know you found my moth that matched your own. I love that they're up there in Canada, too. The moths, they get around, you know?

I live near Norman, Oklahoma, U.S. and saw a moth identical to yours. It was outside by our well shed on the ground. The colors were so incredible and I too had to take a picture of it. I was in the process of trying to identify it when I came across your blog. Butterflys and moths are such incredible creatures. Thanks for your picture.

It is a scarlet-winged lichen moth.

Thank you, Anonymous! I'm happy to know it. I need a good moth field guide!
