In addition to raking/sweeping up many, many leaves and other detritus out back on Saturday, I tethered the Will Scarlet rose to this lovely piece of metal, which is now somewhat wired to the wall, in hopes that the rose will now climb up instead of out. Next to Will Scarlet on the right, but hardly visible in this photo, is a swamp rose which has yet to ever bloom. I think this is the third year since its planting—maybe this will be the year!
I also contained this red rose (a Martha Gonzalez? maybe?), planted by the former owners of this house, into this obelisk for support.
