The Plot Thickens

The dogs led us to a new patch of feathers on our walk this evening. I think the bird was taken down at the bottom of the hill, where there were so many more of the big black outer feathers, and then was finished off over here in the woods near the campsite, right next to this den:

Who lives in there? Fox? Coyote?

Suspicious (and very odoriferous of dead something) spoor

Kaila, do you remember when a coyote ravaged Oak Hill and got like all four of our neighbor's cats? I hope you don't have a coyote out there; keep an eye on the kitties.

It is the Circle of Life, Simba . . .

This is CNN.

Gretchen, I do remember the Oak Hill incident! I make sure that all cats that go down the hill with me come back up the hill with me. Happily, I don't think they go all the way down there on their own. I also think it's a fox, if only because we've actually seen foxes on the hill before. But we've heard coyotes...

Graham, do you remember Simba, the soft drink, from when we were very little in Madison? It's another of those things like Kaboom that most people do NOT remember.

We have coyotes on Shoal Creek who have been eating people's pets. I fear if it were a coyote you'd already know....

I don't remember Simba the soft drink, nor Kaboom(?) I'm all over Screaming Yellow Zonkers, though.

Jen: you are so right. We've decided it must be a fox.

Graham: I am heartbroken that you don't even remember Kaboom! It was a sugar cereal (& our mom quit buying those in what, 1968? go granola!) and guess what, apparently it is back! I just googled it and: http://www.amazon.com/General-Mills-KaBoom-Cereal/dp/B0002BQLHI
